INTERNAL COMPETITIONS

There are ten monthly internal competitions a year - five Print and five for Projected Digital Images (PDIs) in two groups Standard and Advanced.  Prints and PDIs can be shown twice, providing they have been awarded no more than 8.5 points in any previous round.

There are two sections:-

  •  Standard
  •  Advanced

All prints must be handed in before 8 pm on the evening of the competition. They are listed prior to judging.

Entries are marked out of ten points. Two entries only are allowed.

The points for all five rounds of the competition are added together and the winner receives a trophy at the end of the season.

Maximum print size is 50 cm x 40 cm (20” x 16”) including mount. All prints must be mounted. Any subject matter can be entered, prints can be trade or home processed and are not separated for judging.

For information on image size etc for PDI, see technical guides.

Promotion to higher classes in both Prints and PDIs

Generally if you win the annual competition twice you will go up to the next class, but this can be discussed.

Additional Competitions

Bill Owen Trophy (Prints and PDIs)

The trophy was presented to the Club by the late Bill Owen to try to encourage members to produce imaginative pictures. You can enter up to four images although not all may be shown. You can enter print or PDIs or a mixture of both.

Best Print and PDI of the Year

At the end of the season you can choose your two best PDIs and /or prints and put them into competition. They do not need to have scored high marks; it is the pictures you, not the judge, think were best. Maximum entry is two PDIs and or two prints per member which must have been shown in the season of the competition.

Outside Competitions

During the year Camera Clubs compete with each other in various competitions, this gives the opportunity to visit other clubs meet other photographers and see their work.

These are either formal or friendly competitions.

Kingston CC belongs to the Surrey Photographic Association who run an Interclub Print and PDI Competition annually.

The Rosebowl

Entry consists of five PDIs per club, with most clubs in Surrey taking part and is held at Woking towards the end of February.

The Concorde Trophy

Entry consists of a panel six prints from each of the nine clubs who take it in turns to host the event.

Friendly Competitions

We try to organize Friendly competitions with other local clubs during the season home and away.

The club have two selection sub- committees one for prints the other for slides.

I have given a very brief explanation of outside competitions if you would like more information please talk to one of the Committee.
