Monday evening meetings range between competition evenings and talks etc.
Usually given by outside speakers who are experts in some aspect of photography. These have included journalists, professional photographers, printers and specialists in enhancing digital photography with computer software, particularly Photoshop.
There is a refreshment break mid-way during the evening and the opportunity to discuss photographic matters with other members.
Our members' work includes photographs from roll film, slides and images from digital cameras, in colour and black and white. Members range from beginners in photography to members of the Royal Photographic Society with distinctions. Some of our members give talks, lectures and audio visual shows to local Charities and Associations.
We will have five monthly competitions for members each season for prints and slides respectively, with Standard and Advanced sections, followed by the best print and slide of the year competitions .
There is also an annual competition for the most imaginative image
The competitions are judged by qualified photographers invited from outside our Club.
There are annual awards for the winners of all competitions and the opportunity to work one's way up through the sections in the monthly competitions.
We compete in the annual Surrey Photographic Alliance Inter-Club print and slide competitions. We host some at our HQ and attend those held away at other Clubs. Our Club is also invited to enter in other inter-club events. Our sub-committee chairmen are always wanting members' work from which to select our panels for these events.
Our annual exhibition is opened by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the Mayoress presents the awards. The work exhibited shows that our members have a wide range of photographic interests.
The exhibition awards for our members to aim for include trophies for Nature prints, Nature slides and Applied prints in addition to our two sections for both prints and slides, also the best panel in the exhibition, an annual set subject for slides as well as awards for the best print and the best slide in the exhibition.
Our members act as stewards during the opening times of our exhibition and have the opportunity to discuss photography with members of the public and members of other photographic societies who come to see our work.
Our President produces a News Sheet three or four times a year, which he circulates by email or hardcopy to members.
In addition to our published programme, several social events are arranged throughout the Club year in addition to the Christmas evening which is held at our H.Q. to which members are invited to bring a guest.
On our Gallery page we showcase images by a number of our members.
