Kingston Camera Club

KCC Projected Digital Images

The club has adopted the following format for internal Club competition:

  • file type: .jpg (or .jpeg)
  • image size: 1400 x 1050 pixels (or smaller)
  • colour space: sRGB
  • file name: <name>_<title>.jpg (e.g. Tim Morland_Sheep at Dawn.jpg)

Notes

The maximum of 1400 x 1050 has been chosen to match the club’s high quality digital projector. This is a length:width ratio of 4:3.

Traditional 35mm film and APS-C digital sensors have a ratio of 3:2. Hence the largest, uncropped, landscape image in this ratio would be 1400 x 933 pixels. For an image in portrait format, the size limit is 700 x 1050.

Files must be submitted as a .jpg (.tif , .psd, etc. will not be accepted by the software)

DPI entries for internal club competitions can be submitted on CD or memory stick on the Monday preceding the event, or by e-mail to tim.morland@yahoo.com  no later than the Wednesday before the event. Unfortunately no DPI entries can be accepted on the evening of an event

More detailed notes on preparing files of this format, including ‘embedding’ the sRGB colour profile in your image file, can be found here.

The chosen file name structure is needed so that the competition software can automatically read the title and author’s name.
